Hey you beautiful faces out there, I’m back with another travel blog post and it’s that time of the year for exploring the wonderful places, going on treks, enjoying the waterfalls- the monsoon season you guys! Every year my friends and I make it a point to go to at-least one trek location and this time we decided to go to MAHULI FORT.

Mahuli Fort is at 2815 ft approx., and is a popular trekking destination and a paradise for all the rock climbers. It is the highest point in the Thane District. The forest surrounding Mahuli has been declared as a sanctuary. Besides an open Shiva temple there is a small perennial drinking water cistern on top, three caves of which the larger can be used as overnight shelter, like as on many other such natural hill forts of Maharashtra Western Ghats (Sahyadri Range). There is a stone arch historically known as the ‘Kalyan Darwaja’ but the dome of the arch is now broken.

We started our journey at 5.00 am and boarded the train from Ghatkopar, it took us round about two hours and then took a rickshaw from Asangaon station and paid Rs. 250. Before beginning the trek, we made sure that we had sufficient water as there was no source on the top, we began drawing water from the well, it was an experience in itself.

A small advice always carry a mosquito repellent cream on any trek and thank me later. Luckily, one of us had the cream which saved us from the mosquitoes of Mahuli. As always, none of the treks are possible without a four-legged friend, yes you guessed it right we had two cute dogs. They stayed with us the whole time and showed us the lead.

The way to the fort is very thrilling and jaw-dropping at the same time. Narrow ways, lush green grass what else can you ask for. We took a break after one and a half hour of climbing and had some delicious parathas and continued the journey. I couldn’t click more pictures as it was raining at intervals and the path was too risky, but trust me the photos don’t do justice to the beauty of nature guys.

We finally made it to the top and the level of happiness cannot be explained! After rejoicing and just admiring the beauty over the top, we couldn’t wait any longer to eat. So everyone got something from home which was Puneet’s Parathas, Priti’s Thepla , Pranay’s Nuttela-bread, Diti’s Maggie, Sheldon’s chicken- nuggets, corn balls, Clarissa’s Chutney sandwich, we had a feast up there.

We fell short of water and that’s the time we understood the importance of water, so we went searching for it and asked a couple of people too and found the Cistern (an underground reservoir for rainwater) and there were many fishes which naturally cleanse the water.

After spending few hours, it was time to return back. Every trek is a life changing experience, it makes you fall in love with the nature and be thankful for every tiny thing in life. With a heavy heart it was time to say goodbye to Mahuli, we returned with new memories and lots of stories.
This is what life is all about- traveling helps you find what you really love, and who you really are. These trips are worth the memories you guys, dancing on top of the mountain on the songs which you haven’t heard before, chasing the clouds, facing your fears, coming across to different types of plants, insects, this is all that counts.

That’s all about my experience at Mahuli Fort, do let me know in the comments section about your favorite trek location and also don’t forget to check out the video of us drawing water from the well, dancing on the mountain, and more on my Instagram- Jerica_therunawaygal
Thank you so much for showing all the love and support guys. Will be back soon!
Until next time,
Love Jerica. ♥
